Hair cells are the second fastest growing cells in the body but since hair is non-essential tissue your body won’t provide it with nutrients if you are running low and essential body tissue needs it more. Therefore it is important to provide the body with sufficient vitamins and minerals.

#1 Vitamin D

Research suggests that vitamin D can help stimulate the creation of new hair follicles. These follicles reside in the dermal layer of the skin and are made up of different cell types. If hair follicles become dormant due to vitamin or mineral deficiencies, this can lead to hair loss.

#2 Betacarotene

Beta Carotene is a provitamin. Your body turns it into vitamin A. It helps protect against dry, brittle or dull hair. Provitamine A  also encourages the glands in your scalp to secrete oily fluids that keeps hair from becoming dry and frizzy.

#3 Vitamin C

Vitamin C is known to be a powerful antioxidant. It helps protect against oxidative stress caused by free radicals in the body. Vitamin C also helps create collagen, which is an important part of hair structure.

#4 Niacin

Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, helps improve blood circulation. It brings oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicle and is vital for healthy hair growth. Poor blood circulation has been found to be a huge factor in hair thinning and hair loss.

#5 Thiamin

Thiamine, also known as vitamin B1, has powerful antioxidant properties, which help protect your hair follicles from free radical damage. Thiamine is also essential for efficient metabolism. The hair requires a lot of nutrition and it can only get those nutrients if your metabolism functions properly. Thiamine helps to make sure the scalp and hair get what they need.

#6 Vitamin B12

B12 promotes healthy hair growth. It’s an essential nutrient when it comes to the production of oxygen-rich red blood cells. These red blood cells feed the hair follicles. At the base of each hair follicle there are tiny blood vessels. These connect to the roots of each hair strand. Blood vessels carry oxygen to the hair which helps boost hair growth.

#7 Folate

Folate is primarily responsible for healthy cell growth. Regular consumption allows skin, nail and hair cells to function smoothly. Research suggests that folate is also effective in treating baldness when consumed regularly. Folate-Deficiency is linked to premature graying.

#8 Riboflavin

Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2 is another powerful antioxidant. It helps protect the body from damaged particles called free radicals. It also plays a crucial role in hair growth by activating vitamin B6 and niacin, two vitamins crucial when it comes to healthy hair. According to research, riboflavin helps maintain healthy hair, skin and nails.
